The previously announced sequel to the GATE series, GATE 2: Tides of Conflict, unveiled a teaser visual on Friday. The story will center on the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and will mostly take place at sea.
Studio M2 is animating, and the staff includes:

Gate (Jieitai Kano Chi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri) is a fantasy novel series written by Takumi Yanai, with illustrations by Daisuke Izuka and Kurojishi. It was initially posted online between 2006 and 2009 on a site called Arcadia, before being picked up by publisher AlphaPolis in 2010. According to the official website, the series exceeded 7.3 million copies in circulation (including digital editions) as of June 2024.
A manga version, drawn by Satoru Sao, started in 2011, and it was followed by three spin-off manga in 2015. The story was later adapted into an anime series, with the first half airing in mid-2015 and the second half in early 2016. In North America, the anime is licensed by Sentai Filmworks.
A sequel novel series titled Jieitai Kano Umi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri began in 2017 and is currently ongoing.
