Geek+Pop Gold is a geek and pop-culture event organized by Cadre 28. The CEO and chief organizer, Joal Cabrera, describes its arrival to the “City of Golden Friendship” known as Cagayan de Oro:
Cagayan de Oro’s gaming and cosplay community is totally lit, and it’s about time the country and the world saw that. But more than recognition, we’re also bringing in what the fans really want, an event that’s not to be missed! Geek+Pop Gold isn’t just an event — it’s a whole lot of pop culture firsts and THE event of the year for all things cosplay, video gaming, and esports in Cagayan de Oro.
Exciting Games and Activities to Look Forward To
Con-goers and cosplayers can look forward to plenty of stage games like the Geek+Pop favorites Cosplay Stop Dance and the Bring-Me game. Other events to look out for are the Cosplay Walk Skit Contest and Cosplay Talent Contest.
Meanwhile, nostalgic gamers can find some fun at the Pinoy Retro Gaming and Just Dance PH booths. There’s also the One Piece Card Game, 100K Open featuring Magic: The Gathering, and Cardfight!! Vanguard, courtesy of Top Deck Games.
Several big-name video game names, including Genshin Impact, Mobile Legends Bang! Bang!, Diablo Immortal, and Playpark, are joining Geek+Pop CDO. Genshin Impact and Mobile Legends is awarding the best cosplayer they can find at the event. Meanwhile, Kagay-anons will also be experiencing the music of the sensational Filipina octet BINI through Superstar PH. The idol community of CDO will also be having performances.

Special Guest Cosplayers
Geek+Pop Gold welcomes two special guests to Cagayan de Oro: the Filipino cosplay sensation Charess and the one-and-only RuRu. The two are well-known for their jaw-dropping cosplays and epic gaming moments, guaranteed to bring the hype to CDO. There will be a VIP meet-and-greet on both days with Charess and Ruru, which will then be followed by a free meet-and-greet at their respective booths.

In case you didn’t know, the event name has some wordplay — Razer “Gold” is the co-presenter of the event that’ll take place at Cagayan de Oro, while in Filipino, the word “Oro” means gold. Hence, Geek+Pop Gold. This was revealed in Joal Cabrera’s message which shared how their event aims to become a place that CDO fandoms and communities deserve.
