Genshin Impact update 2.3 is coming in a couple of weeks, along with the wintery holiday atmosphere. There’s a festive vibe surrounding this update, with a new story development in the snowy region of Dragonspine, some snowman-building activities, as well as plenty of gifts players can receive from new challenges. Here’s everything that was revealed on the Genshin Impact 2.3 update livestream.
For those who need them, here are the redemption codes from the stream:
Shadows amidst snowstorms
The update teased new story developments in Dragonspine. The Knights of Favonius attempt to use the area for training, and rope the Traveler in with them. As per usual in the world of Genshin Impact, things go awry. Together with our favorite heroes from Mondstat, players will have to save the day once more in this snowy region.

This event will be rewarding players with a new limited edition weapon called the Cinnabar Spindle. In addition to that, players will have the opportunity to receive rewards such as Primogems, Crowns, and other materials. The Shadows Amidst Snowstorms event certainly seems to take center stage for the update, and it will certainly be exciting to see how the story develops here.
New Character – 2 Re-Run Banners and Itto
Character banners will never be the same after Genshin Impact’s 2.3 update. For the first time in the game’s existence, two simultaneous limited character banners will be going on at the same time. These two banners will feature Albedo and Eula, who are fan-favorite Mondstat heroes. The official post states that these kinds of banners will show up sometimes when it comes to re-runs.
Both of these banners will go on at the same time and will share the same count toward the banner pity system. Essentially, this means that wishes on Albedo’s banner will also contribute to the pity of the Eula banner, and vice versa. This is possibly the biggest change that will come about from this update. With a new second character banner to consider for updates moving forward, this will mean that players will have to rethink how to save and spend their Primogems.
Arataki Itto’s character banner was announced as well, along with Gorou who will be the one of the rate-up 4-stars on Itto’s banner. The livestream also dedicated some time to showcase and discuss these characters’ new skills and descriptions.
Itto appears to be a brash, headstrong troublemaker. This outspoken Oni is nothing but competitive, and will no doubt pack a punch for those out there wanting to roll for him. His kit was described to be one that scales off of defense, meaning that Itto will hit harder the more defense he has.
Though Gorou was already part of the Genshin Impact story, he was officially confirmed as a playable character here. This reliable dog boy is a Geo support character. He will have the ability to buff his team based on how many Geo characters there are. Not to mention that he has an absolutely adorable little sidekick with him.
Events and Additions Inbound
Genshin Impact’s 2.3 update is packed with a whole lot of events and additions to the game. This will surely leave players with a lot to do over the festive period.
A number of fan-favorite events are either making returns or are getting expounded upon. Additional hangout events are coming, with players getting the opportunity to spend time with Beidou and Gorou. Old events such as the Misty Dungeon event and Marvelous Merchandise are making a return too. New events are being introduced too, such as the Bantan Sango Case Files. This features a story where the Traveler must track down animals that have gone missing in Inazuma.
A new boss is also coming in the next update. This ferocious-looking dog snake is called the Golden Wolflord. This new boss seems to be a particularly tough opponent. Its attacks will apply the corrosion effect onto players’ teams. Furthermore, it gains an attack buff when its health gets to a specific threshold. This will be an exciting new challenge that players can take on.
New Weapons and Artifact Sets
A new weapon and two new artifact sets are also coming in Genshin Impact 2.3 update. The Redhorn Stonethresher appears to be Arataki Itto’s signature weapon, and will surely be available to roll for when his banner comes out. The Husk of Opulent Dreams looks to be an artifact set that will synergize well with Itto too. The new Ocean-Hued Clam set seems to be a set tailor-made for Kokomi.
Tons of Holiday Fun
It seems like there’s going to be a lot to do on Genshin Impact soon. Just in time for the festivities, the game seeks to deliver a fun experience over the holiday period. With new characters coming and a new event to play through, these are exciting times ahead for the game. Will you be partaking in the festivities in Genshin Impact’s 2.3 update?
