HoYoverse announced that Genshin Impact Version 5.8, titled “Sunspray Summer Resort,” will be released on July 30, 2025. The update is bringing Easybreeze Holiday Resort, a permanent island map west of Natlan, and introduces Ineffa, the first playable character from the Nod-Krai region.
Easybreeze Holiday Resort will serve as a new exploration area with layered islands, traversal features, and seasonal content.
The resort’s mascot, Asha, grants players abilities such as gliding over water and hovering briefly in midair. Asha can also spray paint to solve puzzles and uncover secrets across the area. The update’s main story quest, “Sunspray Summer Resort,” includes appearances by Bennett, Chasca, Mualani, and Venti. Players will also face the ageless monster Bakunawa in Mare Jivari, a hidden area beneath the resort.
A range of seasonal events will offer Sunspray Spirit, a temporary currency that can be exchanged for rewards, including the event-exclusive 4-star claymore Flame-Forged Insight and Bennett’s new outfit, Adventures in Blazing Hue. Event activities include guiding companions in “Travels Are Fuller With Friends,” aiming challenges in “Strikers Through the Storm,” music parties, and spray-painting mini-games.
The update will also introduce the prelude to the Nod-Krai storyline under the series “Song of the Welkin Moon.” In the first chapter, “The Journey Home,” players will meet Ineffa, an all-purpose household robot created by the mechanic Aino of Nod-Krai. Ineffa will join the roster as a 5-star Electro polearm user and brings a new elemental mechanic called Lunar-Charged.
When Ineffa is in the party, Electro-Charged reactions become Lunar-Charged, creating a Thundercloud that deals continuous Electro damage to enemies affected by both Electro and Hydro, with chances to trigger critical hits. Ineffa’s combat skills include deploying a shield and summoning Birgitta, a unit that deals AoE Electro damage and performs additional attacks when a Thundercloud is active.
Ineffa will appear in the first half of Version 5.8’s event wish banners alongside a rerun of Citlali. The second half of the update will feature the return of Mualani and Chasca. Yelan will also appear in a side story set in Fontaine, wearing a new Fontaine-style outfit called Tranquil Banquet, which will be available at a limited-time discount. Yelan’s story involves using a special photography device to detect otherwise invisible clues.
Version 5.8 will include several system optimizations as well. Short, cloud-streamed tutorial videos will be added to Trial and Talent screens for newly released characters. The in-game time management system will be simplified with a “Navigate” option that automatically adjusts the game clock to meet quest requirements. Material tracking improvements will help players identify characters that can detect local specialties in each region.
Genshin Impact Version 5.8 will be available on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Android, and iOS with cross-progression and co-op functionality. More details can be found on the official website. You can watch the trailer for the new update below.
