The TV anime adaptation for Gintama was animated by Sunrise until Season 4, which is when Bandai Namco Pictures took over. The anime has a total of 367 episodes, as well as numerous OVAs, movies and specials. The latest installment was the Gintama: The Very Final movie, which premiered in 2021.

VIZ Media licensed the manga in English as Gin Tama, while Crunchyroll is streaming the anime. The story follows Gintoki Sakata, a legendary samurai with a sweet tooth who is now handling odd jobs. Together with his new friends, he has plenty of wacky adventures while also having to deal with his past and saving the world on the side.

The franchise also has the Gintama: Ginpachi-Sensei anime in production, set for a 2025 release.
