Hiroyuki, Girlfriend, Girlfriend and Aho-Girl author, launched a new work, titled Anime-ka 4 Sakuhin no Manga-ka ga Udedokei ni Hamatta Kekka 5000-man Yen no Shakkin wo Tsukutta Hanashi (How a Manga Artist, Whose Four Works Have Been Animated, Became Addicted to Luxury Wristwatches and Ended Up in 50 Million Yen Debt). The plot of the new book tells the story of Hiroyuki, who accidentally got drawn into the world of luxury items and somehow ended up broke. It will be out on October 11 and published under Wani Books. Although it is not a manga, it will feature some art drawn by the author.
Hiroyuki is a well-known manga author and artist. Four of his works have received anime adaptations so far. The first was also his first major work, titled Dojin Work. It was serialized in Manga Time Kirara from 2004 to 2008 and received an anime adaptation in 2007 by studio REMIC. Next up was The Comic Artist and His Assistants (and its 10-chapter sequel), which ran from 2008 to 2012 in Young Gangan, and had a 12-episode anime by studio Zexcs in 2014.
Aho-Girl got its anime adaptation in 2017: the manga ended in the Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in the same year after 130 chapters (it started in 2012). His most recent work to receive an adaptation is also his most recent manga: Girlfriend, Girlfriend. The manga ran from 2020 to May 2023 in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine. The first season of the anime premiered in 2021, while the second is coming this fall.
Over the years, Hiroyuki authored many works, including doujinshis such as Of Girls, Love, and Money, Angel Girl, and Two-Timing Fair and Square. He is currently promoting his new work while giving suggestions about luxury wristwatches on Twitter. It’s also worth nothing that 50 million Japanese yen is around 339,770 USD.
