GIRLS BAND CRY has announced a theatrical release, which will cover the TV anime season over two compilation movies. The announcement was made at the 2nd ONE-MAN LIVE concert of the in-story band TOGENASHI TOGEARI, held today in Japan. The original anime was animated by Toei Animation and ran for 13 episodes from April to June of this year.
TOGENASHI TOGEARI will hold the 3rd ONE-MAN LIVE show on November 2 in Japan. The band consists of the following members:
- Rina (Iseri Nina) – Vocals
- Yuuri (Kawaragi Momoka) – Guitar
- Mirei (Awa Subaru) – Drums
- Natsu (Ebizuka Tomo) – Keyboard
- Shurias (Rupa) – Bass
The anime was voted as the best original anime in our Spring 2024 Anime Awards. Kazuo Sakai directed it, with Kenji Tamai as the music composer and Nari as the character designs.
The official YouTube channel for the anime project describes its plot as:
The main character drops out of high school in her second year, and aims at entering a university while working alone in Tokyo.
A girl is betrayed by her friends and doesn’t know what to do.
Another girl is abandoned by her parents, and tries to survive in the city by doing part-time jobs.
This world lets us down all the time.
Nothing goes as planned.
But we want something that we can continue to like.
We believe there’s a place where we belong. That’s why we sing.
A video game adaptation was also recently announced.
