Studio Lerche is animating To the Sea with Noriko Hashimoto as the director. Yuniko Ayana is doing the screenplay, while Mina Osawa is in charge of the character designs. Given: To the Sea will conclude the anime’s story, according to an announcement on the official website.
The Given anime series is based on a manga by Natsuki Kizu. It started serialization in 2013 in Shinshokan’s Cheri+ magazine. SuBLime licensed it in English. In addition to the TV anime (one season) and the two movies, the Given series also has an OVA from 2021, titled Given: on the other hand (also Lerche).
Crunchyroll streamed the anime and described the plot as:
Somehow, the guitar that he used to love to play and the basketball games that he found so fun just lost their appeal… That was until Ritsuka Uenoyama randomly met Mafuyu Sato. Ritsuka had started losing his passion for music in his everyday life, but then he hears Mafuyu sing for the first time. The song resonates with his heart and the distance between them starts to change.
