Set in a world where people receive blessings from various animal gods upon turning 16, the story follows the timid countess Sophia Lila, who unexpectedly receives the blessing of the “Gorilla God,” known as the strongest in combat. Shirohi has been writing the Gorilla no Kami Kara Kago sareta Reijo wa Oritsu Kishidan de Kawaigarareru (The Young Lady Blessed by the Gorilla God Is Adored by the Royal Knights) manga since August 2021, which has released 5 volumes so far. Kadokawa is publishing it under their FLOS COMIC label.

Both of the creators left comments on the adaptation:

Shirohi’s Comment: “When I started writing the original version of this story, I honestly didn’t think it would be published as a book. However, I was approached by my current editor for a manga adaptation, and now, miraculously, we’re getting an anime adaptation. I owe this to the incredible work of Kamisu Mika-sensei, who brought the original story to life in the manga, the readers who supported us, and, of course, gorillas around the world. Thank you so much! I hope everyone enjoys the ‘Gori-Love Comedy’ that features the strength and kindness of gorillas and the love story of two inexperienced lovers.”

Kamisu Mika’s Comment: “Congratulations on the anime adaptation of Having been blessed by the gorilla god, the young lady is loved by the Royal Knights! And thank you so much!! It still feels like I’m dreaming. I am deeply honored and thrilled that the story entrusted to me by Shirohi-sensei, with the support and help of so many people, is now expanding into an anime format. It’s an incredible moment, and I’m excited to see the characters, who have been given new life by the talented staff and cast, in action on screen. I hope many people will watch and support Sophia’s growth and love as she races forward with the gorilla by her side!”
