Haigakura anime revealed the main trailer, along with 5 additional voice cast members joining the show. Studio Typhoon Graphics is animating, with Junichi Yamamoto as the director. The anime will premiere in October.
The main trailer (also available on X if it is region-locked for you) features the opening theme song “Chaser” by MADKID, while the ending song will be “Phoenix” by Hikaru Makishima.
The new Haigakura voice cast includes:
- Junko Takeuchi as Ichiyo (child)
- Akira Sasanuma as Shungei
- Tatsumaru Tachibana as Gaishi
- Atsushi Tamaru as Gas Mask
- Kazutomi Yamamoto as Usagi Kamen
The anime previously shared some more additional cast, while the main cast consists of Kaito Ishikawa as Tenko and Takeo Otsuka as the older version of Ichiyo. You can see the key visual for Haigakura below.
Besides the director Junichi Yamamoto, the Haigakura anime staff includes Yuu Murai in charge of the series composition, Masaki Sato as the character designer, and Yuhki Kurihara in charge of the music.
Haigakura anime is based on the Japanese manga of the same name by Shinobu Takayama. It was serialized in Ichijinsha’s Comic Zero Sum WARD magazine from January 2008 to May 2015. It was transferred to Zero-Sum Online in September 2015, where it is currently ongoing.
The manga is set in a world where four gods that once held up the world as pillars fled along with other minor gods. This led to the rise of kashikans, whose job is to catch the runaway gods and restore stability in the world. The main character, Ichiyo, reluctantly becomes a kashikan to free his foster father, who was caught to replace the four gods who left. Ichiyo’s main goal is to recapture the gods and bring back the peaceful life he had before.
