Hana-Kimi: For You in Full Blossom Anime Announced

Hisaya Nakajo’s beloved Hana-Kimi: For You in Full Blossom manga is getting an anime adaptation. The studio, format, and release date are yet to be announced. The editorial staff issued a statement regarding the anime adaptation:

“This is a project that we have been working on together and discussing with Hisaya Nakajo for some time.
Ms. Nakajo also looked at the rough drafts of the characters and scenario, She was looking forward to seeing the world of Hana-Kimi presented in a different way from that of a manga. It is a great pity that she was not able to see the final version.

We are very grateful that Hana-Kimi: For You in Full Blossom is once again being adapted, 20 years after its completion. We will work together with the production side and the editorial department to meet the expectations of Mr. Nakajo and our readers, so please look forward to the broadcast.”

Hana-Kimi: For You in Full Blossom was Hisaya Nakajo’s most influential work. The romance cross-dressing shojo manga ran from 1996 to 2006 in Hana to Yume magazine. Its 144 chapters were compiled into 23 volumes. Hana-Kimi received four drama adaptations over the years, but this is going to be its first anime adaptation.

VIZ Media licensed it in English:
Japanese-American track-and-field star Mizuki has gotten herself to transfer to a high school in Japan…but not just any school! To be close to her idol, high jumper Izumi Sano, she’s going to an all-guys’ high school…and disguising herself as a boy! But as fate would have it, they’re more than classmates…they’re roommates! Now, Mizuki must keep her secret in the classroom, the locker room, and her own bedroom. And her classmates–and the school nurse–must cope with a new transfer student who may make them question their own orientation…

Nakajo passed away last year at 50 years old.
