Highspeed Etoile Has a New Anime in Production

Highspeed Etoile (stylized as HIGHSPEED Étoile) original racing anime has a new project in production, as revealed by the character designer Takuya Fujima. The following photo and message were shared for the announcement:

Highspeed Etoile (HIGHSPEED Étoile) – New Anime Project in Production

Studio A-CAT animated the first adaptation, with Keitaro Motonaga as the director. It was created as a collaboration with the Japanese Super Formula Championship for its 50th anniversary, while it also had collaborations with Formula E’s Tokyo ePrix, and Formula One’s Japanese Grand Prix. The theme songs were “ADRENALIZED” by Nana Mizuki (opening) and “Fanfare” by SCANDAL (ending).

The anime ran for 12 episodes from April to June 2024. The voice cast included:

  • Yurie Funato as Hikari Hinata
  • Shiori Izawa as Towa Komachi
  • Kosuke Toriumi as Lorenzo M. Salvatore
  • Ayaka Suwa as Youran Liu
  • Sophia B. Tokito as Yui Horie
  • Alice Summerwood as Nana Mizuki
  • Kanata Asakawa as Yoko Hikasa
  • Chitose Kagura as Marina Inoue

Crunchyroll is streaming the anime, describing the story:
Rin Rindo, who once dreamt of becoming a ballet dancer before being sidelined by injury, is embracing a quiet life with her grandmother until she is unexpectedly thrust into the high-speed world of racing. Now, she faces a new adrenaline-fueled reality in the NEX Race, a revolutionary motorsport event exceeding speeds of 500 km/h.
