Hulu has acquired exclusive rights to stream the upcoming Undead Unluck anime in the United States. The series will premiere as a Hulu Original in October of this year. Studio David Production (best known for the anime adaptations of Fire Force and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure) is in charge of the animation and TMS Entertainment is producing the anime.
Japanese cast of the Undead Unluck anime, Moe Kahara and Natsuki Hanae (Fuko and Shen), will attend this year’s Anime Expo. Yuki Yase is directing the anime, with Hideyuki Morioka as the character designer. Kenichiro Suehiro is composing the music.
The anime is based on a manga written by Yoshifumi Tozuka. The manga began serialization in 2020 in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. VIZ Media licensed it in English and escribes the plot as:
All Fuuko wants is a passionate romance like the one in her favorite shojo manga. Unfortunately, her Unluck ability makes that impossible. But just as Fuuko hits rock bottom, Andy sweeps her off her feet—literally! Now she’s become Andy’s unwilling test subject as he works to find a way to trigger a stroke of Unluck big enough to kill him for good. However, when the pair discovers a secret organization is hunting them, it puts Andy’s burial plans on hold.
