An original anime by Aniplex, Inherit the Winds was announced at the Aniplex Online Fest 2025 on Saturday. A teaser visual and trailer of the anime featuring the main characters Jinsuke Tachikawa and Soji Okita were also shown and the main staff was revealed. The voice cast and premiere date were yet to be revealed.
Yutaka Narui is credited as the original creator and is also in charge of writing the script. Live2D Creative Studio (Tono to Inu) and Drive (KonoSuba: God’s blessing on this wonderful world! Season 3, Tying the Knot With an Amagami Sister) are animating the series with Tomohiro Kawamura (Miru: Paths To My Future) as the director. Fumi Ebina is designing the characters, and Shigeru Kishida (Real Girl opening theme song) is composing the music.
Inherit the Winds original anime story follows Jinsuke Tachikawa, a young man with no memory of his past, and is brought to the Mibu Roshigumi headquarters in Kyoto in June 1863. Welcomed by assistant captain Okita Soji and given a new name, Jinsuke begins life as a member of the corps.
