The upcoming Iron Wok Jan TV anime revealed a new key visual, main trailer (behind-the-scenes version), and additional voice cast ahead of its July 5 premiere. Studio TROYCA is in charge of the animation.
Tomokazu Sugita will voice Ryuji Bito, better known as “XO Sauce Ryu.” A specialist chef who relies on XO sauce in competitions, Ryu is a dangerous challenger who idolizes Otani and has built a reputation through high-stakes cooking matches. Sugita commented:
I was reading the original manga in real time back then. At first, I couldn’t believe it was actually getting an anime adaptation.
I was sulking because there hadn’t even been an audition, and then I suddenly found out I had been cast as Ryu of XO Sauce. My excitement hit its peak. Hell yeah!!

Jan Akiyama is introduced as a fiercely competitive Chinese chef who arrives at Gobancho Hanten. The grandson of legendary chef Kaiichiro Akiyama, he was raised under strict culinary discipline and believes cooking is fundamentally about defeating opponents in battles.
Kiriko Gobancho, the restaurant’s heir, approaches cuisine differently. Already regarded as a top-tier chef, she believes food should be made for the customer, and her refined decorative knife techniques contrast sharply with Jan’s abrasive style. Their philosophies frequently collide. Takao Okonogi works as an apprentice at Gobancho Hanten. Though still inexperienced, he remains calm under pressure and quickly forms a bond with Jan despite his harsh personality.
