The Spanish convention Japan Weekend confirmed its full Japanese guests line up for its upcoming Madrid edition on September 26 and 27. The event also moved to a new location, the Riyadh Air Metropolitano stadium, and to celebrate, they are bringing a wide range of music, artists, and creators from overseas.
Katsuyuki Konishi
Voice actor Katsuyuki Konishi is known for his roles as Tengen Uzui (Demon Slayer), Kamina (Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann), Enjin (Gachiakuta), Laxus (Fairy Tail), Ryujiro Kotobuki (Grand Blue Dreaming), and Diavolo (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind). Recently, he has been confirmed to voice Tougo Shiba in the anime adaptation of KAGURABACHI.
Machico
Machico is a singer and voice actress who gave voice to Tokai Teio, one of the main characters of the game and anime Uma Musume: Pretty Derby, Nene Kusakanagi for the movie Colorful Stage! The Movie: A Miku Who Can’t Sing, Sena for Farming Life in Another World Season 2, among other roles.
As a singer, she performed all the KonoSuba opening themes, and tracks for Uma Musume: Pretty Derby and the Pretty Cure franchise. Recently, she performed an opening and ending theme for Shiboyugi: Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table.
Liella!
Sayuri Date, Nako Misaki and Nagisa Aoyama are the voices behind Kanon Shibuya, Chisato Arashi, and Ren Hazuki from Love Live! Superstar!!, the latest installment of the Love Live! series. The three singers will officially represent the idol group Liella! in their first appearance at Japan Weekend Madrid.
May’n
Singer May’n has collaborated on anime such as Shangri-La, Aria the Scarlet Ammo, Accel World, Blood Lad, and Liar Liar. For her role in Macross Frontier, she was the singing voice behind the idol Sheryl Nome, performing popular tracks such as “Diamond Crevasse,” “Northern Cross,” and “Iteza Gogo Kuji Don’t be late.”
bôa
bôa is a London-based band famous for their song “Duvet,” the opening theme of the anime Serial Experiments Lain. The song later became the most played anime opening in history, with over 1.1 billion plays on Spotify.
Chiaki J. Konaka
Chiaki J. Konaka is the writer of Serial Experiments Lain, who later worked on Digimon Tamers, one of the darker editions of the Digimon franchise. Other anime screenplays of his include The Big O, Hellsing, Texhnolyze, Air Gear, and Mononoke (2007). Outside the anime industry, he debuted in the film Jaganrei, considered one of the beginnings of J-horror.
Yoshitoshi ABe
Yoshitoshi ABe is a manga artist and illustrator who worked as a character designer on both Serial Experiments Lain and Texhnolyze, collaborating with writer Chiaki J. Konaka. He has also worked for NieA_7, Haibane Renmei, Welcome to the N.H.K., RErideD: Derrida, Who Leaps Through Time, and the anime movie All You Need Is Kill.
nyalra
nyalra is the creator and writer of the denpa-inspired, multi-ending visual novel NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE, which received an anime adaptation supervised by him. The author is currently working on a new dark visual novel titled Sister Other Paranoia. In addition, he writes and produces songs for the musical project “Technopop Yūki Synthesizer-chan.”
Shoji Meguro
Composer Shoji Meguro is the mastermind behind many of the publisher ATLUS’s popular games, including PERSONA 3, 4, and 5, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Catherine, Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne, and Denshattack!
Usamaru Furuya
Manga artist Usamaru Furuya debuted in 1994 with Palepoli, a four-panel strip released in the monthly magazine Garo. Known for his broad range of styles and techniques, his works include The Music of Marie, Jisatsu Circle, Lychee Light Club, 51 Ways to Save Her, and Genkaku Picasso.
