The announcement comes after GKIDS revealed it would be distributing the film in North America — its first time for a Jujutsu Kaisen title. Crunchyroll and Funimation distributed Jujutsu Kaisen 0 in 2022, netting $33.9 million in the U.S. against its total $174.1 million box office (per The Numbers). The U.S. was second only to Japan, which had generated $98.6 million. Japanese conglomerate Toho leads the production of Jujutsu Kaisen under its Toho Animation label. Toho acquired GKIDS last October.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie was released in Japan on May 30, reconstructing the Hidden Inventory and Premature Death arcs from the original TV series. The film’s production committee recently released a legal warning against unauthorized recording and distribution of the film’s ending scene online. A new Juju Stroll segment was shown at the end of the film. Tatsuya Kitani also recorded an all-new acoustic version of the TV series’ popular theme song, “Where Our Blue Is.”

Crunchyroll and Sony will distribute Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie sometime this summer. GKIDS will release Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie in North America starting July 16, 2025, describing the film:
Before they were enemies, Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto were high school classmates and friends. The two powerful sorcerers are tasked with protecting Riko Amanai, a student who has been designated to be sacrificed as the Star Plasma Vessel, until she can fulfill her duty. Pursued by a religious cult and other curse users, they are the only sorcerers capable of carrying out such a difficult task – but this mission will set their destinies, and challenge the two sorcerers in ways unimaginable.

The beloved and deeply emotional “Hidden Inventory / Premature Death” arc from the global phenomenon JUJUTSU KAISEN returns to the big screen, reaching all new heights for fans and newcomers alike.
