Unauthorized footage from the ending scenes of JUJUTSU KAISEN: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie has been discovered circulating on social media platforms, prompting a public warning from the franchise’s official X (formerly Twitter) account. As a reminder, the anime movie previously confirmed a brand-new Juju Stroll episode for the movie.
The announcement reminds fans that filming inside a theater constitutes a criminal offense under Japan’s Law for Prevention of Unauthorized Recording of Films, and uploading such content also violates the Copyright Act.
The official post also explains potential legal consequences, which may include up to 10 years of imprisonment, fines of up to 10 million yen, or both, depending on the severity and scope of the infringement.
This is the latest in a growing trend of piracy-related actions targeting major anime properties, with studios and distributors responding with increasing legal action and international coordination. The full statement reads:

Filming a movie inside a theater is a crime under the Law for Prevention of Unauthorized Recording of Films (Film Piracy Prevention Law).
In addition, uploading such unauthorized recordings to platforms like X, YouTube, TikTok, or Facebook constitutes copyright infringement.
If copyright infringement occurs in violation of the Film Piracy Prevention Law or the Copyright Act, penalties may include up to 10 years imprisonment, or a fine of up to 10 million yen, or both.
To ensure everyone can enjoy the movie safely, we kindly ask you to refrain from any unauthorized recording, posting or sharing. Thank you for your cooperation.
Related Crackdowns
Just weeks earlier, on May 11, the official Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba account issued a similar warning after an exclusive trailer for the upcoming Infinity Castle film, shown during revival screenings of Mugen Train, was recorded and shared online. The language mirrored that of today’s JUJUTSU KAISEN warning, explaining a zero-tolerance policy toward theater piracy across the anime industry.
The film, set for Japanese premiere on July 18, with a global release beginning August 14, is being distributed internationally by Crunchyroll in collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment. Revival screenings featuring the trailer began in Japan on May 9, with North American showings following on May 14.
The issue of piracy extends far beyond theater recordings. On May 25, the European Commission included HiAnime, reportedly the world’s largest anime piracy website, in its Counterfeit and Piracy Watch List. The site, which is considered a rebranding of Aniwatch.to and Zoro.to, drew over 339 million visits globally in February 2025, putting it nearly on par with legitimate platforms such as Crunchyroll.
Similarly, AnimeHeaven, another major unauthorized streaming site, was effectively shut down in May following aggressive DMCA takedown actions, allegedly led by Crunchyroll. The removal of all episodes was confirmed by site moderators, with several indicating that the videos are unlikely to return.
Legal Enforcement Has Intensified
On May 21, a Japanese corporation running a “spoiler site” was referred to prosecutors for posting detailed plot descriptions and images from films such as Godzilla Minus One, Shin Kamen Rider, and Overlord III. The Content Overseas Distribution Association (CODA) called the site’s activities “malicious,” emphasizing how that type of content undermines the value of legitimate viewership and ticket sales, even potentially making fans less likely to later watch a product.
According to CODA, the case is rare in that an entire corporation, rather than individuals alone, was referred to the Sendai District Public Prosecutors Office, potentially marking a new phase in enforcement actions.
Industry Response and Warnings to Viewers
The anime industry, supported by organizations such as CODA and the Motion Picture Association (MPA), is continuing to increase efforts to combat piracy across all forms, from in-theater leaks to online streaming and detailed spoiler content. Recent anti-piracy efforts have included DMCA takedowns, criminal complaints and sentences, international cooperation, and public awareness campaigns.
Studios are urging fans to refrain from unauthorized sharing of content in any form. As stated in the JUJUTSU KAISEN warning:
“To ensure everyone can enjoy the movie safely, we kindly ask you to refrain from any unauthorized recording, posting or sharing.”
