Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Makes Opening Changes After Heart-Wrenching Events of Shibuya Arc

Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 viewers were able to spot changes to the opening sequence in episode 20, titled “Right and Wrong, Part 3“, indicating just how severe the consequences of the Shibuya battle are. The two changes to the opening, which features “SPECIALZ” by King Gnu, are:

  • The massive crater in Shibuya has expanded massively to most of Tokyo – either because of power outages or pure destruction
  • All the characters in the third-to-last cut have been removed, leaving a barren image of Shibuya

The damage to the cast has been brutal, with some notable losses. Anime Corner’s Eric Himmelheber has been keeping up to date with regular seasonal reviews. One day, to save a classmate who has been attacked by curses, he eats the finger of Ryomen Sukuna, taking the curse into his own soul. From then on, he shares one body with Ryomen Sukuna. Guided by the most powerful of sorcerers, Satoru Gojo, Itadori is admitted to Tokyo Jujutsu High School, an organization that fights the curses… and thus begins the heroic tale of a boy who became a curse to exorcise a curse, a life from which he could never turn back.
