Jujutsu Kaisen to Screen Season 2 Episodes 41–44 With New Cuts

Jujutsu Kaisen will be screening episodes 41–44 in cinemas in Japan for a week starting on March 29. Episodes 17, 18, 19, and 20 of the second season of the TV anime adaptation were a part of the Shibuya Incident arc. During this special event, fans will get to see a Blu-ray/DVD version of episode 17 (41 overall), titled “Thunderclap, Part 2,” which will feature new cuts and edited footage different from the TV version.

Episode 17 of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 (or 41 overall) will be included in the sixth Blu-ray/DVD volume. The release date is March 20 and the cover features Toji Fushiguro. The remaining three episodes will be on the seventh volume, set to come out on April 17. Studio MAPPA animated the adaptation and the second season was directed by Shota Goshozono.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 finished airing in December of last year, after 23 episodes. Five of those were a part of the Hidden Inventory / Premature Death arc, which recently took 11 wins at the 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards), while the remaining 18 were the Shibuya Incident arc. The full date list for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Blu-ray/DVD release date and episodes is as follows:

  • Volume 1: December 29, 2023 (episodes 30-32)
  • Volume 2: January 24, 2024 (episodes 33-35)
  • Volume 3: February 21, 2024 (episodes 36-38)
  • Volume 4: March 20, 2024 (episodes 39-41)
  • Volume 5: April 17, 2024 (episodes 42-44)
  • Volume 6: May 22, 2024 (episodes 45-47)

Jujutsu Kaisen is based on a manga by Gege Akutami that is currently being serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. The manga launched on March 5, 2018, and has since become one of the most popular shonen titles of today. Viz Media is publishing it in English. After the end of the Shibuya Incident, the JJK anime announced a sequel: Culling Game arc.
