The preview images for Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 episode 1 were revealed on Thursday. The season premiere titled “Kaiju Weapon” will be released on Saturday, July 19. Crunchyroll is streaming Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 with English subtitles. The series will also stream on X and Netflix (in select regions in Asia).

The attack by Kaiju No. 10 devastated the Tachikawa Air Base, leaving Japan on the verge of entering a new era of crisis. The fate of Hibino Kafka, who was taken into custody as “Kaiju No. 8,” remains unknown, and the new recruits of the 3rd Unit are transferred to other units and assigned to new missions in different locations. Shigeyuki Miya returns to direct the new season with studio Production I.G continuing to handle the animation production. Season 1 of Kaiju No. 8 originally aired for 12 episodes from April 13 to Jun 29 in 2024, eventually winning Sci-Fi Anime of the Year and placing third at the Anime Corner 2024 Yearly Awards.

In a world plagued by creatures known as Kaiju, Kafka Hibino aspired to enlist in The Defense Force. He makes a promise to enlist with his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro. Soon, life takes them in separate ways. While employed cleaning up after Kaiju battles, Kafka meets Reno Ichikawa. Reno’s determination to join The Defense Force reawakens Kafka’s promise to join Mina and protect humanity.
