Kazumi Takayama's Trapezium Gets Movie Adaptation by CloverWorks

Kazumi Takayama’s Trapezium novel will be getting a movie adaptation by studio CloverWorks, slated to premiere on May 10, 2024. Takayama, who is a former member of the Nogizaka46 idol group, wrote the book which focuses on Yu Higashi, a girl who is trying to make it as an idol. Asaki Yuikawa will voice the protagonist.

MAISONdes is performing the theme song for the Trapezium movie. The staff includes:

  • Director: Masahiro Shinohara
  • Script: Yuko Kakihara
  • Character Design: Rio
  • Music: Masaru Yokoyama
  • Supervisor: Koji Masunari

Trapezium was Takayama’s debut novel, serialized in Kadokawa’s Da Vinci imprint from 2016 to 2018 and also published as a book. As mentioned above the plot follows Yu Higashi, who to succeed sets a few rules for herself: she will not use social media, she will not have a boyfriend, and she will make friends with girls from all over the world. Takayama commented on the adaptation, stating that creating a novel and an anime are two different challenges and that she hopes everyone will come to see the movie.

Takayama left Nogizaka46 on November 21, 2021. It’s worth noting that the Hunter x Hunter author, Yoshihiro Togashi, is a fan of Sakurazaka46, Nogizaka46’s sister group.
