Spice and Wolf: MERCHANT MEETS THE WISE WOLF has revealed the preview images for episode 20. It is titled “Church Girl and Miller Boy” and is slated to air on August 19. Studio Passione is animating the series, which is available to stream on Crunchyroll.

There is a monk who collects stories of pagan gods. Seeking the lore of Holo’s hometown of Yoitsu, Lawrence and Holo visit the church in the small village of Tereo, not far from Emberg, to find out where the monk lives. When they arrive in Tereo, they meet Evan, a boy who works as a miller, and Elsa, a girl who serves as a substitute priest at the church. They ask Elsa about priests, but Lawrence and his friends are turned away at the door.
The Spice and Wolf anime series is based on the Japanese light novel series of the same name, written by Isuna Hasekura and illustrated by Jyuu Ayakura. ASCII Media Works published it from 2006 to 2019, with a total of 22 volumes. A manga adaptation by Keito Koume ran from September 2007 to December 2017. A sequel novel titled Wolf and Parchment written by Hasekura and illustrated by Hidori is currently ongoing.
The ongoing anime adaptation is directed by Hijiri Sanpei (Citrus), and produced by studio Passione (Interspecies Reviewers), with Takeo Takahashi (Ishura) as General Director. Meanwhile, Koji Haneda (Bakuman) is designing characters, Tomoko Koyama (Beast Tamer) is doing color design, Ayako Tan (The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten) is editing, and Kevin Penkin (Made in Abyss) is composing the music with Tomohiro Yoshida (Brave Witches) as Sound Director. The main cast members of the series are as follows:

Lawrence is a traveling merchant selling various goods from a horse-drawn cart. One day, he arrives at a village and meets a beautiful girl with the ears and tail of an animal! Her name is Holo the Wisewolf and she brings bountiful harvests. She wishes to return to her homeland, and Lawrence offers to take her. Now, the once-lonely merchant and the once-lonely wisewolf begin their journey north.
