The previously announced anime adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Look Back manga revealed a new trailer and key visual ahead of the June 28 premiere date. Studio DURIAN is animating the adaptation, with Kiyotaka Oshiyama as the director, character designer, and screenwriter.
The trailer features the theme song “Light song” by haruka nakamura and urara (vocals). Mizuki Yoshida and Yumi Kawai are voicing the main duo, Kyomoto and Fujino.
Look Back was nominated for Eisner’s Award in 2023. VIZ Media published it in English and describes the plot as:
The overly confident Fujino and the shut-in Kyomoto couldn’t be more different, but a love of drawing manga brings these two small-town girls together. A poignant story of growing up and moving forward that only Tatsuki Fujimoto, the creator of Chainsaw Man, could have crafted.
The Look Back anime will adapt the one-shot, first published in 2021 on the Shonen Jump+ platform. It follows the story of two high school students, Fujino and Kyomoto, who bond over a shared love for art after a teacher suggests they work together. As time passes, the two become very close but life has different plans for them.
The manga is also available to read on Manga PLUS. It shares the title with Oasis’ “Don’t Look Back In Anger” song.
