Luminous Witches, the upcoming anime from SHAFT, revealed a third trailer during the AnimeJapan 2022 earlier today. The anime begins airing in July 2022.
Luminous Witches’ main cast includes:
- Rio Mamesaki as Joanna Elizabeth Stafford
- Ami Aimoto as Lyudmila Andreyevna Ruslanova
- Misaki Yuki as Manaia Matawhaura Hato
- Kana Furunaka as Maria Magdalene Dietrich
- Minako Hosokawa as Inori Shibuya
- Mai Narumi as Virginia Robertson
- Rino Yoshikita as Silvie Carriello
- Ryo Mamiya as Aira Payvikki Linnamar
- Sayaka Tsuzuki as Eleonore Giovanna Gassion
- Mikako Komatsu as Grace Maitland Steward
The Luminous Witches anime is the newest addition to the World Witches mix-media project, created by Fumikane Shimada. The project took off by focusing on the Strike Witches franchise. Unlike Strike Witches, Luminous Witches don’t fight Neuroi head-on. Instead, they use music to protect and bring joy to those who lost their homes in the war.
Shouji Saeki is directing the anime. Saeki previously worked as a director on Assault Lily: Bouquet, Medaka Box, Wish Upon the Pleiades, and more. Kazuya Shiotsuki (Gourmet Girl Graffiti) is doing character designs for the anime. In addition to the work as a character designer, Shiotsuki also worked as chief animation director on titles such as March Comes In like a Lion.
The Luminous Witches (full JP title: Renmei Kuugun Koukuu Mahou Ongakutai Luminous Witches) anime previously revealed a teaser visual:
