A trailer has been released for LUPIN THE IIIRD: Zenigata and the Two Lupins, which is a prequel to the upcoming LUPIN THE IIIRD THE MOVIE: The Immortal Bloodline. The project is set to premiere via streaming in Japan on June 20, a week ahead of The Immortal Bloodine’s June 27 theatrical debut.
The newly announced cast member is Kenyu Horiuchi as Fake Lupin, joining the returning main lineup of veterans. You can watch the trailer below.
Studio Telecom Animation Film is in charge of the animation. The prequel is described:
Inspector Zenigata witnesses a bombing at an airport in the Robieto Federation and is stunned to see the face of the suspect—Lupin III. He quickly loses sight of him, but later spots another “Lupin” at a train station. Although Zenigata manages to apprehend him on board the train, Lupin escapes with help from Daisuke Jigen.
Meanwhile, Fujiko Mine infiltrates a circus and becomes the favored performer of the nation’s supreme leader, Breilin, as a trapeze artist. With a major disarmament parade approaching, Karashikov of the National Security Commission declares Lupin a terrorist and a spy from the Arca Republic, launching a full-scale pursuit. Zenigata, however, harbors doubts about the official narrative.
In the capital, when Lupin is cornered by the authorities, it is Zenigata—believing in his innocence—who stands in their way. But in that very moment, a new explosion strikes Zenigata…
