Lycoris Recoil Gets NFT Project by A-1 Pictures

A-1 Pictures has announced that it is launching an NFT project for its original anime series project Lycoris Recoil. According to the studio, the NFTs will be composed of materials that are intermediate production media. Part of the earnings will go to the production staff.

The Lycoris Recoil NFTs will be sold in an auction style, starting at ¥2,500 per item. Bidding will begin on July 24 and will end on August 4. The pieces are now live on a special page on the SNFT website. Some of the items auctioned as NFTs include raw sketches, animation director corrections, background art, aesthetic visuals, and even rough video clips before it was exported finally for a scene.

It is worth noting that this initiative follows a recent anime project based on Chiru Labs’ NFT project Azuki, involving Japanese advertising giant Dentsu. The same advertising agency is part of the production committee for the Lycoris Recoil series although it is not clear if the two are related.

The Lycoris Recoil original anime series aired from July to September 2022 with 12 episodes. Shingo Adachi, known for his work on the Sword Art Online, directed the anime and did the series composition. He also wrote the scripts for episodes 1-2 and storyboarded a total of four episodes. Imigimuru did the character designs. The anime has a new project in the works and was also voted as Best Anime in Anime Corner’s Summer 2022 polls.

Crunchyroll is streaming the series and describes the plot as:
For these peaceful days――there’s a secret behind it all. A secret organization that prevents crimes: “DA – Direct Attack”. And their group of all-girl agents: “Lycoris”. This peaceful everyday life is all thanks to these young girls. The elite Chisato Nishikigi is the strongest Lycoris agent of all time. Alongside is Takina Inoue, the talented but mysterious Lycoris. They work together at one of its branches–Café LycoReco. Here, the orders this café takes range from coffee and sweets to childcare, shopping, teaching Japanese to foreign students, etc. It’s mostly tasks unbefitting of Lycoris. The free-spirited and optimistic pacifist, Chisato. And the cool-headed and efficient Takina. The chaotic everyday lives of this mismatched duo begin!
