Some My Dress-Up Darling fans may be unaware that the official website for the anime holds a unique weekly poll where Japanese viewers click on a “Dododo” (Japanese onomatopoeia for heart-throbbing) button whenever their heartbeat speeds up while watching a particular scene. This data is used to determine which scenes generated the most heartbeats each week and in episode 8 titled “Backlighting is the Best” the winner was Marin’s adorable invite to Gojo. The invitation to spend the summer together won by a landslide:
My Dress-Up Darling‘s official Twitter also posted a video clip of the memorable exchange, which was animated by CloverWorks:
My Dress-Up Darling is based on a romance manga by Shinichi Fukuda, currently serialized by Square Enix. The anime adaptation is produced by studio CloverWorks, with Crunchyroll and Funimation streaming it. Crunchyroll describes the plot as:
Wakana Gojo is a high school boy who wants to become a kashirashi–a master craftsman who makes traditional Japanese Hina dolls. Though he’s gung-ho about the craft, he knows nothing about the latest trends, and has a hard time fitting in with his class. The popular kids–especially one girl, Marin Kitagawa–seem like they live in a completely different world.
