Marvelous Announces Rune Factory 6 and More

Marvelous has announced Rune Factory 6, the next mainline installment in the ongoing crafting and life-sim series Rune Factory, along with new titles for Story of Seasons and DAEMON X MACHINA, at the Marvelous Game Showcase 2023. Series Director Shiro Maekawa also unveiled Rune Factory: Project Dragon, a spin-off game designed to tie into the upcoming sixth entry.

XSEED Games, the Western subsidiary and distributor for Marvelous’ games, provided this overview for Rune Factory 6 and Rune Factory: Project Dragon:

Series Director Shiro Maekawa joined Sato-san to reveal the first footage of a new spinoff in the Rune Factory series,PROJECT DRAGON. Building upon the central theme of East and West, PROJECT DRAGON is set in the “Land of the East,” which has long been referenced but never shown in the series, where Earthmates will explore new lands and communities with Japanese-styled design influences. Additionally, Maekawa-san confirmed that Rune Factory 6 is also in development and will take place in the western continent of Adonea, with both upcoming titles representing the East and West.

Rune Factory 6 and Rune Factory: Project Dragon

The sixth installment of the long-running franchise, Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon released in Japan on August 24, 2006 for the Nintendo DS. The most recent entry, Rune Factory 5, released in May 2021 for Japan, and March 2022 for a global audience. At release, the game received middling reviews for its graphical performance, but praise for the strong gameplay loop.

No platforms for Rune Factory 6 or Project Dragon have been announced.

DAEMON X MACHINA: TITANIC SCION

Marvelous also announced a new installment to the Nintendo Switch launch title, DAEMON X MACHINA, subtitled as “Titanic Scion.” No other details have been announced at this stage. XSEED Games provided a brief overview for DAEMON X MACHINA: Titanic Scion:

Marvelous’ First Studio and visionary producer Kenichiro Tsukuda are back with an all-new entry in the third-person mech shooter series. Fans can look forward to the return of unforgettable Arsenal action, with more details about this anticipated sequel becoming available at a later date.

New Story of Seasons – Traditional and Multiplayer

The long-running farm-simulation game, Story of Seasons, is also getting new additions. One game will be dedicated to a single-player experience, as is normal for the franchise, while another entry will bring players together for the first time in a multiplayer format.

With a central theme of Experiences, Series Manager Hikaru Nakano revealed the first footage of the next title in the original farm/life simulation series, highlighting a fresh look after 27 years of farming and friendship. Nakano-san also shared exciting news and the first concept images for a separate, future entry in development, which is planned to bring STORY OF SEASONS fans together with an ambitious new title where you can play with everyone!

New Title In Collaboration With Hiro Mashima

Marvelous announced a surprise collaboration with Hiro Mashima, the mangaka behind Fairy Tail and Edens Zero, entitled Project Magia. You can read more about Project Magia in our separate article.

XSEED Games, the Western subsidiary and distributor for Marvelous’ titles, have given an overview of Project Magia:

Managing Producer Takehiro Ishida revealed the first details of this upcoming project, built around the theme of “A New Frontier”. The development team has partnered with legendary illustrator and writer Hiro Mashima (Fairy Tail) to design the game’s characters, sharing a look at a few of the early designs. More details will be revealed at a later date as the development team works to brave this new frontier for Marvelous!
