Mayonaka Punch Confirms July Premiere in New Trailer

The upcoming Mayonaka Punch original anime revealed a new trailer, key visual, and July 8 premiere date earlier today. Studio P.A. Works is animating the series with Shu Honma (Ya Boy! Kongming) as the director.

Hideaki Shirasaka is writing the script for the anime while Ryota Arima is in charge of adapting the character designs from Tsukasa Kotobuki’s concept. Ryota Armina, Sanae Sato, and Masami Goda are the chief animation directors. The cast includes:

  • Fairouz Ai as Live
  • Ikumi Hasegawa as Masaki
  • Ai Kayano as Yuki
  • Hitomi Ueda as Tokage
  • Hina Yomiya as Fuu
  • Yuina Ito as Ichiko

The cast is also performing the theme songs as their characters. Live, Fuu, Tokage, Ichiko, and Yuki are performing the opening theme song, titled “Gimigimi” (featured in the trailer), while Masaki is in charge of the ending song “Henshuten.”

The story follows Masaki, a member of the NewTuber group “Harakiri Sisters,” who got fired due to an incident. Masaki then is trying to make a comeback and meets Live. Aiming to hit a million channel subscribers, Masaki now makes the best videos with Live, who has supernatural abilities.

The Mayonaka Punch original anime got a manga adaptation by Tomomi Usui that began serialization in Kadokawa Shoten’s Young Ace magazine in March 2024. A light novel written by Tsuzuro Hibi and illustrated by Tsukasa Kotobuki is set to be serialized under the Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint.
