About Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX

The anime is the first-ever collaboration between Studio Khara, known for the Evangelion series, and Sunrise, the studio behind the Gundam franchise. It’s directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki (Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time), with script by Yoji Enokido and Hideaki Anno. GKIDS acquired the North American rights for the movie, which premiered on February 28.

The official synopsis:
Amate Yuzuriha, a high school girl who lives a peaceful life in a space colony floating in space, meets Nyaan, a war refugee girl, and gets caught up in the illegal mobile suit dueling competition ‘Clan Battle.’ Using the entry name ‘MACHU’ Amate pilots a GQuuuuuuX and throws herself into fierce battles every day. At the same time, an unidentified Mobile Suit ‘Gundam,’ pursued by both the space army and the police, and its pilot, a boy named Shuuji, appears before her. And the world is about to enter a new era.

Gundam is a Japanese mix-media franchise that focuses on mecha robots, created by SUNRISE and Yoshiyuki Tomino. The franchise officially premiered on April 7, 1979, with the Mobile Suit Gundam anime series. It is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year. In addition to the popular anime series and spin-offs, the franchise also has manga, novels, video games, and, of course, the popular toys.
