A Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans: Urdr-Hunt movie, by Sunrise and Bandai Namco Entertainment, was officially announced on November 7, 2023. The official X account also released a statement reiterating their earlier announcement that the Kido Senshi Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans G mobile app game will cease service on January 11, 2024.
Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans: Urdr-Hunt was previously a 9-part short original anime distributed alongside the Japanese Tekketsu no Orphans G game, mixing game and anime elements to create the story. The new Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans: Urdr-Hunt special trailer for the animated movie adaptation can be viewed below.
Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans: Urdr-Hunt (spelled Urðr-Hunt) doesn’t have a release date at the moment, nor cast information. However, Rina Ikoma voices the main protagonist Wistario Afam in the in-game anime version. She may reprise her role in the movie. As part of the Tekketsu no Orphans G game, the Urðr-Hunt anime was adapted into 9 short parts. Further information on the Urðr-Hunt movie will be revealed, with the Iron-Blooded Orphans X account advising fans to check the official website regularly.
Urðr-Hunt is a spin-off of the Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans (Gundam IBO) series which first aired on TV in October 2015, spanning 50 episodes across two seasons until its final air date in April 2017. As with the other Gundam anime, like IBO‘s successor: the 2022 Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, Hajime Yatate and Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino are credited as the creators. Iron-Blooded Orphans was directed by Tatsuyuki Nagai and written by Mari Okada, who worked together on the 2011 anime series Anohana. Okada also directed the recent MAPPA original film Alice to Therese nio Maboroshi Kojo which was released on September 15, 2023.
