The previously announced Mr. Villain’s Day Off anime revealed the first trailer and main visual, as well as a premiere date of January 2024. Shin-Ei Animation and SynergySP are animating the series.
Yoshinori Odaka will direct the series, with Midori Goto on the series composition. Meanwhile, Tomomi Shimazaki is doing the character designs, Nobuaki Nobusama is composing the music and Koji Yamamoto is the sound director. Hisae Arimoto and Hiroki Matsumoto are credited as the art directors. The cast for the anime includes:
- Shintaro Asanuma as Warumono-san
- Ai Kakuma as Shinonome Pink
- Hibiku Yamamura as Reimei Green
- Hiiro Ishibashi as Akatsuki Red
- Sōma Saito as Rooney
- Takuya Eguchi as Soten Blue
- Yūichi Nakamura as Trigger
- Yuichiro Umehara as Yoiyami Black
The Mr. Villain’s Day Off anime is based on a manga series written and illustrated by Yu Morikawa. The manga has been serialized on the Pixiv website since December 2018 and Square Enix is publishing it on its Gangan Comics Pixiv platform. A drama CD adaptation was released by Frontier Works in January 2021.
Square Enix’s Manga Up! website is publishing it in English, describing the plot as:
An Evil Organization from another planet is trying to take over Earth. An extraterrestrial from that organization named the “General” tirelessly fights against Earth’s defenders every single day in a battle of life and death! However, today is his day off.
