The previously announced Murai in Love anime will be airing during the Fall 2024 season. A new teaser trailer and visual, as well as details on the main cast and staff, have also been revealed. Studio J.C. Staff is animating Murai in Love which will stream exclusively on Disney+. Watch the new trailer below:
Yoshinobu Yamakawa will be directing the series, while Susumu Yamakawa will be handling both the series composition and screenplay. Ruka Kawada is composing the music. The main cast includes Kengo Takanashi as Murai, Yoko Hikasa as Ayano Tanaka, and Nobunaga Shimazaki as Hitotose.
The anime adaptation of Murai in Love was first announced in June 2022 and is based on the manga written and illustrated by Junta Shima. Shima first launched the manga in LINE’s manga service under Kadokawa’s Gene Line label in June 2018. The manga came to an end in June 2022 with a total of seven volumes published. An eight-episode television drama adaptation was released on TBS and aired from April 6 to May 25, 2022. The drama adaptation featured Hikaru Takahashi as Ayano Takana, Ryubi Miyase as Murai Hitotose, and Ryosuke Sota as Shinri Hirai.
Murai in Love follows Murai, who is a shy high schooler. Often invisible, he has long hair and is not someone you would consider exceptionally beautiful. One day, he confesses to a girl he loves, but she turns him down because she only has eyes for her games. However, the next morning Murai wakes up and decides to change things up. He shows up looking like a completely different person, with short and dyed hair, with clothes resembling Tanaka’s favorite character. All thing to win Tanaka over – but will he succeed?
