My Awkward Senpai is getting a TV anime adaptation in 2025, revealing the first teaser visual and trailer, as well as the studio, main staff and voice cast. Studio Elle (Summoned to Another World for a Second Time, The Healer Who Was Banished From His Party) will be animating, while Lynn will voice the main character Azusa Kannawa.
You can see in the first teaser visual below.
The My Awkward Senpai anime will have Ayumu Kotake as the director. Mio Inoue will handle the script and series composition, with Kenro Tokuda as the character designer and Koji Fujimoto as the music composer.
Makoto Kudo writes and draws the My Awkward Senpai (Bukiyo na Senpai) manga series. It originally started as a web comic on Kudo’s Twitter (now X) account, with Square Enix serializing it in their Young Gangan magazine from December 2019. The series is published in English by Comikey and by Square Enix through their Manga UP! Global application. Comikey describes the story:
“Well… as you can see, my senpai’s a little intense – hold on, “a little”?”
Kannawa-senpai is considered many things, but smooth is definitely not one of them. Then she meets Kamegawa, her new Kouhai. He’s cute, a little nerdy, and easy to talk to. How will this awkward Senpai be able to handle these new feelings?!
