The production company for My Awkward Senpai announced October 2 as the anime’s Japanese premiere date. The long-awaited adaptation of Makoto Kudou’s romantic comedy manga will air on Tokyo MX and BS NTV at 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., respectively. Anime Hodai will stream the anime in Japan. No Western streaming service has announced whether they’ll be streaming the anime.
My Awkward Senpai Adaptation Details
Studio Elle will animate the TV adaptation under the direction of Ayumu Kotake. Notable production staff include Mio Inoue, who handles the series composition and scripting, and Kenro Tokuda, who worked on the character designs. Koji Fujimoto produced the anime’s music. The voice cast includes:
- Lynn (Ria in Farming Life in Another World) as Azusa Kannawa
- Shougo Sakata (Felix in Secrets of the Silent Witch) as Yuu Kamegawa
- Ami Maeshima (Aya Maruyama in BanG Dream!) as Miho Hotta
- Mitsuki Saiga (Yelena in Attack on Titan) as Ritsu Kankaiji
Asmik Ace’s YouTube channel released a trailer for the anime in July, featuring the show’s opening song, “Bukiyo na I Love You,” by angela.
Makoto Kudou originally published the manga on their X account. Square Enix’s Young Gangan magazine began serializing the manga in December 2019. The series has been compiled into nine tankobon volumes. Square Enix’s Manga Up! Global app and Comikey publish the manga in English.
My Awkward Senpai follows Azusa Kannawa, a beautiful and capable office worker who lacks wit. When Azusa meets her new, easygoing, and kawaii office kouhai, she quickly realizes that her emotions may be more than she can handle.
