Kohei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia manga ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from July 2014 until its conclusion in August 2024, wrapping up after a decade-long run. To mark the finale, the series was celebrated with multiple illustrations and special messages.

Studio BONES adapted the manga into an anime beginning in 2016. Over the years, the adaptation expanded to include seven seasons, with the seventh season concluding on October 12, 2024. You can also check out our review of the entire season.

The franchise has also received four anime films. The most recent, My Hero Academia: You’re Next, was released on Blu-ray and DVD in Japan on February 19, 2025. This release featured a brand-new anime based on an original story written by Horikoshi. The movie also began streaming on Netflix and Crunchyroll starting on April 20.

As we look forward to the trailer and upcoming season, fans can also follow the ongoing My Hero Academia: Vigilantes spin-off anime, which takes place five years prior to the events of the main storyline.
