After 21 Years, Naruto Movies Take Flight in India With Debut Theatrical Release Window Reveal

Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow has received a tentative June 2025 release window in India, following an agreement between Indian film distributor Reliance Entertainment, Happening 365 Synergies, and Japanese licensor TV Tokyo. Variety indicates that this release will be the first of a theatrical rollout of the Naruto film franchise.

Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow – Fight Scene

Hiroaki Saiki, head of Global Distribution at TV Tokyo, said, “The movies will be released in three languages – English, Hindi, and Japanese – ensuring accessibility for a wide range of audiences. This theatrical release will not only cater to Naruto enthusiasts but also introduce the franchise to a new generation of anime fans.

Dhruv Sinha, head of international businesses and syndication at Reliance Entertainment, added, “Naruto has been a cultural phenomenon across the world and India has witnessed a remarkable surge in its anime fan base over the years. We are thrilled to bring this iconic franchise to Indian cinemas, giving fans the opportunity to experience it on the big screen.

A joint statement from Anuron Mukherjee and Kalpita Jadhav from Happening 365 Synergies said, “This partnership marks an exciting milestone in the growth of one of the most iconic anime franchises. Our goal is to elevate the Naruto experience and continue to build its legacy as a global anime sensation, while ensuring fans in India enjoy the movies in their preferred language.

India is a rapidly growing anime hub, with numerous production companies expanding into the country in recent years. Iconic anime franchise Crayon Shin-chan will have its first movie premieres in India this May and October with Crayon Shin-chan: Our Dinosaur Diary and Crayon Shin-chan: The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers.

Crunchyroll’s CEO revealed last year that it plans to produce anime inspired by Indian characters, themes, and stories, per Rest of World, and Sony Yay!, a subsidiary of Crunchyroll’s parent, Sony, is currently developing an Indian anime series (Variety).

Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow was directed by Tensai Okamura at Studio Pierrot in 2004. Including Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow, VIZ Media has released all the Naruto films for free in the U.S. via its official YouTube channel. It describes the film:
A land forever covered in ice… A princess missing for ten years… And one high-spirited ninja named Naruto! Naruto and the rest of Squad 7 take on a new mission: bring popular movie star Yukie Fujikaze to the Land of Snow, where they’re filming the final scenes of her latest movie.
