The upcoming Evangelion game is planned as a trilogy based on the world and events of all 26 episodes of the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime, with the first installment set for release in 2026. Players will experience the narrative through the eyes of an original character, exploring the world of Neon Genesis Evangelion, taking on quests, and engaging in thrilling battles — all while following the timeline and key events of the anime.

The press release adds that the game will feature interactive and cooperative gameplay with familiar characters, making it especially appealing to long-term fans. “The goal is to deliver a unique and dynamic action-adventure experience,” it continued. Fans can learn more about the game from Pixelity’s website and following social media:

Extended Reality is an umbrella term referring to Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Mixed Reality (MR) — which allows users to interact with and manipulate digital objects that are overlaid on the real world. Examples of other popular anime-inspired XR games include Pokémon GO (AR) and Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable (VR).

The Evangelion franchise began as the 26-episode TV anime series created by Hideaki Anno with animation production by Studio Gainax and Tatsunoko. The End of Evangelion provided an alternate ending before it was rebooted by Anno, now at Khara, with the Rebuild of Evangelion tetralogy. Netflix streams the original Neon Genesis Evangelion, the Evangelion Death (True)² recap film, and The End of Evangelion anime. Amazon Prime Video streams the Rebuild tetralogy.

Netflix describes Neon Genesis Evangelion:
Fifteen years after the Second Impact, Shinji Ikari joins his father’s group NERV as one of several teenage mecha pilots fighting the monstrous Angels.
