Netflix Announces KPop Demon Hunters as Its Most-Watched Original Animated Film of All Time

Netflix has announced that KPop Demon Hunters has become its most-watched original animated film of all time. Released globally on June 20, 2025, the film has already risen to the top of Netflix’s animation lineup. Sony Pictures Animation handled the animation production, with music by Marcelo Zarvos and original songs produced in collaboration with top K-pop producers.

The official synopsis:

When K-pop superstars Rumi, Mira, and Zoey aren’t selling out stadiums, they’re using their secret identities as demon hunters to protect their fans from ever-present supernatural danger. Together, they must face their biggest threat — an irresistible rival boy band of demons in disguise.

Directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, KPop Demon Hunters follows Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, members of the chart-topping girl group Huntr/x. They are K-pop idols by day, while they fight to protect the world from demonic forces by night. Their toughest battle comes when a rival boy band is revealed to be demons in disguise. The voice cast includes Arden Cho, May Hong, Ji-young Yoo, and Ahn Hyo-seop. You can watch a trailer for the animated film below.
