Oni Press has announced a new printing process called PSYCHO-VISION, debuting with Fort Psycho #1, the upcoming comic series from writer Matt Kindt and artist Brian Hurtt. The first issue of the 12-part maxi-series is scheduled to release in August 2026 as part of Kindt’s Flux House publishing imprint.
PSYCHO-VISION is described as a combination of print techniques designed to enhance comic presentation through specialized color, materials, and packaging. According to Oni Press, the format includes Pantone-keyed cover colors that allow hues not achievable through the traditional CMYK printing process, along with heavy-duty 10-point cardstock covers for each issue.
The publisher also confirmed that each issue will be free of external advertising and include additional back matter. The first issue will launch as a double-sized 40-page debut, while the entire series will run for twelve issues.
Anime Corner can exclusively share a preview at some of the pages, which you can check out below.
Oni Press President and Publisher Hunter Gorinson described the format as a way to preserve the visual impact of Hurtt’s artwork:
“Special comics demand a special package, and that’s where the impulse behind PSYCHO-VISION began. From the jump, Brian Hurtt’s eye-popping shelf covers for this series have captured the pop-art bombast of Matt Kindt’s nerve-rending, adrenaline-addled story to a tee, and we knew they had to take every extra step possible to preserve their impact on the shelf.”
Because of the proprietary printing techniques used, Oni Press notes that the full PSYCHO-VISION presentation will only be available in the single-issue physical editions sold in comic shops and cannot be replicated in digital versions.
Fort Psycho follows a team of elite covert operatives created by the United Nations to track down the leader of a terrorist group responsible for sinking Singapore into the Pacific Ocean. After a mission ends in catastrophe, the disgraced spies are imprisoned at their former island headquarters, Fort Cyclone, now nicknamed “Fort Psycho.” The series explores the aftermath as secrets surrounding their final mission begin to surface.
The series is written by Matt Kindt, known for Mind MGMT, Dept. H, BANG!, and for co-creating BRZRKR with Keanu Reeves. The artwork is provided by Brian Hurtt, the co-creator of The Sixth Gun. Covers for the series include artwork by Hurtt and additional variants by Lewis LaRosa.
Ahead of the series’ debut, characters from Fort Psycho will appear in the MIND MGMT / FORT PSYCHO FCBD 2026 Special, a Free Comic Book Day release that includes two original short stories serving as a prelude to the upcoming series.
Fort Psycho #1 is scheduled to arrive in comic shops in August 2026.
