Japanese band Paledusk is releasing its new single “HUGs,” which serves as the opening theme for the upcoming Gachiakuta anime. The single will be available digitally starting July 28, with a limited-edition CD release scheduled for September 17. The song was previously previewed in the latest trailer.
“HUGs” marks Paledusk’s major label debut and was written at the direct request of Gachiakuta creators Kei Urana and Hideyoshi Andou. The band members each commented on the song:
“‘HUGs’ is a track filled with heart and blood. It’s not just a song – it’s a beginning,” said vocalist KAITO. “We’ve been a band for over 10 years, and this moment feels surreal. With the support of our team and fans, we’re ready to push into new territory. Life’s too short not to try something wild.”
Guitarist DAIDAI described the song’s theme: “Even when you’re crushed or pushed down, you keep moving forward. That’s what ‘HUGs’ is about. It’s a song for the ones who dare to stand out. Let’s turn outsiders into allies, and turn the unknown into home.”
Guitarist TSUBASA: “We’re so proud to be making our anime debut in the same year as our 10th anniversary. KAITO poured himself into the lyrics, and DAIDAI pushed the production to its absolute limit. We really hope you feel the weight and love we put into this song.”
Drummer BOB added: “This track is one of our most meaningful works. It wraps chaos, heaviness, and humanity into one. We’re throwing this sound out into the world – and we hope it reaches hearts far beyond Japan.”
Gachiakuta is set to premiere on July 6, 2025, at 23:30 JST on 28 CBC/TBS affiliate stations in Japan, and will stream internationally via Crunchyroll. The anime, serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine since 2022, follows protagonist Rudo, an orphan from the slums who confronts a society that has marginalized him.
The limited-edition CD release of HUGs will include nine collectible trading cards featuring original character illustrations of Paledusk members by Kei Urana, along with anime visuals of Gachiakuta characters Rudo, Enjin, Zanka, and Riyo.

Paledusk Background
Formed in Fukuoka, Paledusk consists of vocalist KAITO, guitarists DAIDAI and TSUBASA, and drummer BOB.
