Pokémon (short for Pocket Monsters) is a globally popular multimedia franchise created by Satoshi Tajiri and developed by Game Freak, with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company managing its operations. Since its debut in 1996 with Pokémon Red and Green (released internationally as Red and Blue) for the Game Boy, the franchise has grown into one of the highest-grossing entertainment franchises in the world.

The franchise now spans across most available media, including video games, anime, trading card game (TCG), movies, and merchandise. WIT Studio also animated a 4-episode special anime in 2023.
