Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Walpurgisnacht Rising movie revealed a key visual for each of Madoka Kaname and Homura Akemi. Studio SHAFT is animating the movie, with Akiyuki Shinbo as chief director and Yukihiro Miyamato as the director. The movie will premiere in Winter 2025 after a delay due to production issues.

Akemi previously got a trailer:

Puella Magi Madoka Magica, created by the Magica Quartet (Akiyuki Shinbo, Ume Aoki, Gen Urobuchi, and producer Atsuhiro Iwakami) first premiered in January 2011. The series ran for 12 episodes, concluding in April of the same year, although the final two episodes were delayed due to the Great East Japan Earthquake.

While the TV anime wrapped up the main story, the Puella Magi Madoka Magica franchise has since expanded into various media, including several manga adaptations, a novel by Nitroplus, a dedicated magazine, and video games. In October 2012, two recap films, Beginnings and Eternal, were released, which condensed the anime’s events with some new material. A third film, Rebellion, was released in October 2013, continuing the story with a fresh story that served as a prequel to Walpurgisnacht. These movies got an Ultra HD Blu-ray release on January 29, 2025.

In addition to the main series, the Magia Record spin-off story has its own anime adaptation, produced by Studio SHAFT, along with a mobile game. The new mobile game, Magia Exedra, will launch on March 27, 2025 on multiple platforms (iOS, Android, and Windows).
