The Quintessential Quintuplets 5th anime anniversary celebration will kick off in December 2023 and will span much of 2024, as announced earlier. To celebrate the milestone, the series debuted a new wedding visual of the titular quintuplets, alongside the announcement of new projects. Check out the visual below:
Two of the five projects have been announced so far, with the rest to be confirmed. From December 22 to January 21, 2024, the Tokyo Anime Center in Shibuya is host to “The Quintessential Quintuplets Exhibition: Engagement.” A new X (formerly Twitter) account at @5toubun_engage has been created for the event. Further details are available on the anime’s official site, which teased that the exhibition will be filled with the various expressions of the quintuplets and looks back on their charms.
The second announced project takes place on April 27-28, 2024, when Yokohama Arena hosts “The Quintessential Quintuplets 5th Anniversary EVENT in Yokohama Arena.” Day 1 is a film concert that showcases the anime soundtrack and will feature Miku Ito (the voice of Miku Nakano) and Ayane Sakura (Yotsuba Nakano) in attendance. The second day will be a cast talk and live event where Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Futaro Uesugi), Kana Hanazawa (Ichika Nakano), Ayana Taketatsu (Nino Nakano), Miku Ito (Miku Nakano), Ayane Sakura (Yotsuba Nakano), and Inori Minase (Itsuki Nakano). The entertainer and creative Seitaro Mukai will moderate both days.
Negi Haruba’s The Quintessential Quintuplets was published as Gotobun no Hanayome from August 2017 to February 2020 in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine. The series was collected into 14 volumes and spawned two seasons and a sequel movie. Anime Corner had the opportunity to interview some of the staff of the special that premiered this summer in July. The special anime adapted some parts of the original story that were skipped in the adaptations.
Haruba’s other work, Go! Go! Loser Ranger!, also has an anime adaptation in the works. The mangaka did the original character designs for the 2024 upcoming anime Pon no Michi.
Crunchyroll streams the anime and describes it:
Uesugi Fuutarou, a high school second-year from a poor family, receives a highly appealing offer to work part-time as a tutor… but his students turn out to be girls from his own class! What’s more, they’re quintuplets… and all five are beautiful, but happen to be problem students who have borderline grades and hate studying! Looks like his first assignment will be to win all the sisters’ trust?! Every day is a wild party in this rom-com centering around the quintuplet sisters of the Nakano household!
