The Quintessential Quintuplets series is getting a new anime project that will cover the events set after the wedding and Futaro’s honeymoon. Negi Haruba will supervise the movie. The announcement was made during the 5th-anniversary event of the anime held at the Yokohama Arena where the main cast was present:
- Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Futaro Uesugi
- Kana Hanazawa as Ichika Nakano
- Ayana Taketatsu as Nino Nakano
- Miku Ito as Miku Nakano
- Ayane Sakura as Yotsuba Nakano
- Inori Minase as Itsuki Nakano
In addition to the new anime project, The Quintessential Quintuplets is also getting a new light novel and the series which will depict the lives of the girls not shown in the original manga. Hajime Asano will be writing the novel and is supervised by Negi Haruba, the manga’s author. Check out the commemorative video for the 5th anniversary:
Last year, the Anime Corner team had the opportunity to interview the staff of The Quintessential Quintuplets~ special: producer Junichiro Tanaka, writer Keiichiro Ohchi, and animator Kazuya Shiotsuki. During the panel dedicated to the special, a question regarding potential new projects was asked and producer Tanaka answered that he didn’t know what our reporter described as “a funny tone.”
The 5th Anniversary Best Album cover jacket and Futaro Uesugi’s character song released were also revealed during the event. The album will be released on September 18, 2024, while Futaro’s character song will be digitally available on April 29, 2024.
The first two seasons and the movie of the anime adapted the manga of the same title written and illustrated by Negi Haruba. The first season of The Quintessential Quintuplets anime adaptation aired from January to March 2019 with Tezuka Productions handling the animation. Bibury Animation Studios took over for the 2nd season, which premiered in 2021, and they also animated the movie. An anime special by SHAFT premiered theatrically in Japan in September 2023 and was later screened on TV in two episodes.
Crunchyroll is streaming the series and they describe the plot as follows:
Uesugi Fuutarou, a high school second-year from a poor family, receives a highly appealing offer to work part-time as a tutor… but his students turn out to be girls from his own class! What’s more, they’re quintuplets… and all five are beautiful, but happen to be problem students who have borderline grades and hate studying! Looks like his first assignment will be to win all the sisters’ trust?! Every day is a wild party in this rom-com centering around the quintuplet sisters of the Nakano household!
