The new Ranma 1/2 anime officially begins on October 5, and the Episode 1 preview has been released. Besides a preview video and images, the synopsis and staff for the first episode were also revealed. Studio MAPPA is animating, and the anime will stream weekly on Netflix worldwide.

The synopsis for Ranma 1/2 Episode 1 is described:
Soun Tendo anxiously awaits the return of his friend’s son, Ranma Saotome, who is betrothed to his daughter, Akane Tendo, from China. On the day they were to meet, a cute girl with pigtails and a giant panda appeared instead!? It turns out that during their training, the Saotome family had fallen into the legendary training grounds of the cursed springs known as “Jusenkyo.” When splashed with water, Ranma transforms into a girl and his father, Genma, turns into a panda!
The staff working on the first episode of the new Ranma 1/2 anime consists of:

Most of the original voice cast from the original is returning, with new additions including Akio Otsuka as Soun Tendo (replacing Ryusuke Obayashi, Cho as Genma Saotome (replacing Kenichi Ogata) and Kenichi Ogata as Narrator (replacing Tadashi Nakamura, who passed away in 2019). The anime recently released its opening video featuring the theme song “iinazukkyun” by ano.
