The Rascal the Racoon spin-off anime Araiguma Calcal-dan (Raccoon Team Calcal) revealed the first key visual featuring the main characters, along with an April 2025 release date. Just like with the original anime, Nippon Animation will be animating.
The story will follow Calcal-dan, the world’s #1 most popular company, which you can see in the visual below.
The main voice cast includes the following members:
- Junya Enoki as Acacal
- Taku Yashiro as Logical
- Kensho Ono as Subcal
- Yohei Azakami as Comical
- Kenjiro Tsuda as Middle

The anime is coming 48 years after the original, with Racoon’s original voice actress Masako Nozawa (Goku in Dragon Ball) previously narrating a teaser trailer.
The staff for the Araiguma Calcal-dan new anime includes Henry Hirakawa as the director, Ayano Yoshioka as the character designer, Kisuke Koizumi as the sound director, and Arisa Okehazama as the music composer. Credited as chief producers are Kozo Misawa (Yomiuri TV) and Hitomi Hiratsuka (Nippon Animation), with Hiroya Tanaka (Yomiuri TV) and Kasumi Dekune (Nippon Animation) credited as producers.
The original anime aired for 52 episodes from from January 1977 to December 1977. The story follows a young boy who decides to take in a racoon and try to tame him. The popularity of the anime led to a significant increase in raccoon imports to Japan, resulting in them being declared an invasive species in the country.
