Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2 Reveals Collaboration Visual With From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman, Episode 1 Preview

Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2 has revealed a new collaboration visual with From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Season 2, as well as the synopsis and preview for its first episode.

Episode 1 is titled “The Thing Floating in the Sky Was an Island.” As Teacher and Fran travel toward the port town of Dars, they discover a floating island along the way. The pair are attacked by a skeletal knight and crash onto the island, where they encounter a necromancer named Jean. Shinichiro Miki as Teacher and Ai Kakuma as Fran narrate the preview trailer for the episode, which you can watch below.

The new collaboration visual brings together Reincarnated as a Sword and From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman through their shared focus on swords and mentorship. Fran is guided by Teacher, while Beryl guides his own students. From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Season 2 is currently airing, streaming on Prime Video.

To commemorate the crossover, both anime are holding a campaign through their official X accounts, with postcards featuring the collaboration visual being offered as prizes.

Yu Tanaka writes the original Reincarnated as a Sword light novel. The novel started off on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website in October 2015 with illustrations by LLO. GC Novels started publishing it in the light novel format in 2016.

A manga adaptation by Tomowo Maruyama is ongoing as well, and there is also a spin-off manga Reincarnated as a Sword: Another Wish by Hinako Inoue, which began in June 2020. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the light novel, the manga, and the spin-off manga.

Shigeru Sagazaki writes the From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman: My Hotshot Disciples Are All Grown Up Now and They Won’t Leave Me Alone (Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru: Tada no Inaka no Kenjutsu Shihan Datta noni, Taisei Shita Deshitachi ga Ore o Hottekurenai Ken) light novel series, which features illustrations by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima.

The story originally debuted in November 2020 on the user-generated Shosetsuka ni Naro website. It later caught the attention of Square Enix, who picked it up in April 2021 and began publishing it through their SQEX Novel label. A manga version illustrated by Kazuki Sato has been running in AKITASHOTEN’s Dokodemo Young Champion since August 2021. The light novel has been licensed in English by J-Novel Club, while the manga adaptation is being released by Yen Press.
