Rie Takahashi to Cover Oshi no Ko Opening Song "Idol"

During the Oshi no Ko stage on Jump Festa 2024, it was revealed that voice actress Rie Takahashi will cover the anime’s opening song “Idol,” originally performed by YOASOBI. The cover will be released on the official YouTube channel of Oshi no Ko. Additionally, the previously held special event will be uploaded and Pieyon will also get his own YouTube channel. Rie Takahashi, Takeo Otsuka, Megumi Han, and Manaka Iwami attended the Oshi no Ko stage event.

The series previously revealed a trailer, visual, and a 2024 premiere date for the upcoming sequel. Studio Doga Kobo (Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie) animated the first season of the series with Daisuke Hiramaki (Selection Project) as director and Saori Tachibana (Wasteful Days of High School Girls) as assistant director. Jin Tanaka (Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club) was in charge of writing the scripts. At the same time, Kanna Hirayama (Rent-a-Girlfriend) did the character designs based on the manga written by Aka Akasaka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) with illustrations by Mengo Yokari (Scum’s Wish). The cast includes:

  • Takeo Otsuka as Aquamarine Hoshino
  • Yurie Igoma as Ruby Hoshino
  • Megumi Han, as Kana Arima
  • Manaka Iwami as Akane Kurokawa
  • Rumi Okubo as Memcho
  • Lynn as Miyako Saito

The series is available to stream on HiDIVE and Netflix Asia and the former describes the story as:
Dr. Goro is reborn as the son of the young starlet Ai Hoshino after her delusional stalker murders him. Now, he wants to help his new mother rise to the top, but what can a child do about the dark underbelly of the entertainment industry?
